Arnold Sports Festival 2012

Another weekend has come and gone and reality is starting to kick back in.  The hustle and bustle of morning hair and makeup appointments, afternoons of bright lights and cameras clicking, and evenings spent  catching up with friends (old and new) are officially over.  The bright lights at the Arnold Sports Festival 2012 have been turned off and athletes, spectators, and exhibitors have packed up and are heading home.  New, lofty goals are being set and travel plans are beginning to be penciled in as we all start the countdown to ASF 2013.

Having never attended this epic sporting event before, I was excited to see what it had in store and made it a point to make my first visit to Columbus, OH a great one.

Tanned, toned and full of excitement my husband and I boarded our flight and were on our way.  First on the agenda, a photoshoot with the iconic fitness photographer, Paul Buceta.  His team of super cool women immediately set my nerves at ease early that morning as we chatted while I was getting my hair and makeup done by Val.  Wow!  She is an incredible artist!!!  All ready to go, I was off to shoot.  Five hours and a ton of great shots later, we wrapped up and I was off to grab a quick bite before shoot #2 of the day with Sarah Lyons of PictureGroove.

If you haven’t had a chance to shoot with Sarah you need to!  Her energy is contagious and shooting seems more like hanging out with a girlfriend instead of working.  The studio was full of women I admire..Monica Brant, Melissa Morrison, and Rita Catolino.  With music blaring we got right down to business and captured some great images.  Around 5:30pm, my day of work was over and it was time to celebrate with my hubby over a nice dinner (it was his birthday after all)!

The weekend was spent working out and attending the expo, where we navigated our way through the massive ASF floor, sampling new products, running into friends and meeting new friends in the industry.

With the frigid air at our feet, we packed our things and said goodbye to the Home of Aviation and headed back to warmer weather.  A trip definitely worth taking and one that will become a planned  event for the Bricken household for many years to come.
